In recent years, there have been increasing conflicts between residents and businesses due to odor emissions, and residents have been petitioning more frequently. Environmental remediation, especially odor control, has become an important project involving social stability and harmony. The timeliness and uncertainty of odor emissions have made it difficult for environmental protection departments to obtain evidence and enforce laws. Therefore, there is an urgent need to establish a real-time, efficient, and fast odor automatic monitoring system to monitor the odor situation24-hour continuous monitoring.

Odor refers to any gas substance that stimulates the sense of smell and causes discomfort and damage to the living environment. Odor concentration is a comprehensive characterization factor of air quality, and its value is a comprehensive reflection of mixed air quality. There are various sources of odor, and the composition of odor is complex. Therefore, a comprehensive indicator is needed to limit it. China's method of limiting odor is based on the national "Emission Standards for Odor Pollutants"(GB 14554-93), The limit value for odor concentration in the factory environment is set at 20OU.


At present, odor monitoring adopts the national standard analysis method "three-point comparative olfactory bag method (GB/T14675-93)", which is a testing method based on human olfactory senses. The sampling and analysis process relies entirely on manual operation, resulting in extremely heavy tasks for detection personnel. When conducting odor identification analysis, there are many restrictive conditions for detection personnel, and there are a series of problems such as low work efficiency, poor timeliness, poor objectivity of data, and high labor costs. Therefore, it is imperative to build an automatic online monitoring system for pollution source odors.
